Akshardham was inaugurated in 2005 and was built by the BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha) organization. The temple was constructed using traditional building techniques and materials, with over 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, and 20,000 murtis and statues of sadhus, devotees, and acharyas.
